Think about it: you have a quartz tube glowing at 800°C, and suddenly, a stray splash of cold water hits it. With a standard tube, that’s a recipe for disaster. The glass can’t handle that kind of shock and it just shatters. That’s why we stick with explosion-proof quartz. Safety first, obviously. Now, standard quartz is decent, but it has its limits. Explosion-proof quartz is a different beast. It’s built to take those sudden temperature drops without falling apart. But here’s the real peace of mind: even if the internal structure does happen to crack, the tube won’t just burst or spray shards across your bathroom. It’s our final safety net for anyone using a heater in a wet room. Instant heat, no waiting. These lamps use short-wave infrared. Instead of wasting time heating up the air in the room, the energy goes straight to your skin and the surfaces around you. It’s fast. Really fast. You get a huge amount of heat coming from a tiny little footprint. We usually mount these on the wall to keep the electrical bits far away from the water. The quartz tube does the heavy lifting—it keeps the tungsten filament from burning out while letting all that warmth pour through. A few things to watch out for. You can’t just toss these into any old fixture and hope for the best. Because they get so hot, the housing has to be able to take it. If you use cheap plastic, it’s going to warp. Period.
