
Stop the Bathroom Damp with IP55 Infrared Heating
Most people grab a bathroom heater just so they don’t freeze when they step out of the shower. But we wanted our IP55 infrared lamps to do a bit more than that. We built them to actually fight the moisture, hitting the dampness right where it starts so mold doesn’t even get a chance to move in.
How it actually works
Here is the secret: we use shortwave infrared (SWIR). Most heaters just blow warm air around, but SWIR is different. It goes straight through to the surface of your wet tiles and walls, warming them up fast. When your walls stay warm, water can’t settle and turn into those annoying little droplets. No condensation, no dampness, no mold. It’s that simple.
Built for the steam
Let’s be honest—bathrooms are a nightmare for electronics. Between the splashes and the thick steam, things usually rust or short out pretty quickly. That’s why we use an IP55-rated enclosure. It’s basically a shield that keeps the moisture away from the electrical guts of the unit. We also used quartz glass for the heating elements. It can handle the jump from cold to hot without cracking, so you get a blast of heat the second you flip the switch. No waiting around.
Getting it right
These are designed to swap right into your existing ceiling fixtures, so they don’t take up much space but pack a lot of punch. But there is a catch. Infrared heat is directional—it goes where it’s pointed. If you mount the lamp too high or put it in a weird corner, you’ll miss the lower walls and lose that dehumidifying effect. You’ve got to plan the layout based on where the “wet zone” actually is in your room. And a quick tip: if your bathroom is tiny, these can get the room too warm. To keep it comfortable, we suggest hooking them up to a timer or a humidity sensor so they only run when they’re actually needed.
